Artist statement

I am a ceramic artist making functional and sculptural work. Each piece begins as a 3D model. I print the model, make a plaster mold from it, and slip cast the final form in clay, which lets me move between precise digital shapes and the softness of the material.

My sculptural work is about shifting identity as the climate and our social environment change around us. Each sculpture reflects that shift. Familiar parts like petals, thorns, lobed feet and branching handles grow over one another until the whole becomes something new.

Whether functional or sculptural, the work is meant as a small escape from everyday routine. A cup or vase can become part of a daily ritual. A sculpture asks to be looked at slowly, from every side.
